Ontario Abandons Adams Mine as Landfill

Toronto – Environment Minister Leona Dombrowsky proposed legislation to the Ontario government this past week that would block an abandoned, open-pit mine from being used as a landfill site. If the Adams Mine Landfill had been approved, Toronto’s trash would have been sent to the site during the next 20 years, instead of exported to Michigan where state lawmakers remain up in arms.
